Good MorningThe S&P 500 gained more than 0.50% on Monday to put the index on track for its best month since April. The broad market index is up roughly 10% in that time and poised for more gains in the coming month. The final month of the year will bring the busiest shopping period of the year and could drive the market to new highs. The latest NRF estimates have holiday spending up 5.2% in 2020.
Investors need to be cautious this week. With the holiday season upon us market volume will be light and market moves may not reflect reality. This week is light on earnings but chock full of economic releases to drive the market. Along with that are rising numbers of COVID cases and the risk of another economic shutdown. The post-holiday season could be telling, with all the expected traffic the darkest days of COVID may still be ahead.
