Good MorningEquity markets gave up some of this week’s gains on Friday leaving traders in question about a possible Santa Claus Rally. The Santa Claus Rally is an upswing in the market that usually accompanies the Christmas Holiday. This year’s holiday, however, comes with dark clouds that may keep the market from moving much higher. Not only is the COVID-19 virus still spreading but the economic stimulus is elusive as ever and a government shutdown looms over the country.
With only eight trading days left in the year investors are cautioned not to read too much into the day-to-day market movements. Trading volume is going to be at a seasonal low and trading ranges will dominant the action. We might not know which direction the market really wants to go until the New Year begins.
