Good MorningThe equities markets continue to struggle with direction on Thursday while traders worry about the economy. On the one hand, the economic data suggests a more robust than expected recovery post-pandemic while on the other there are growing signs the pandemic is not over. A rising number of cases in key States tied to the reopening have the market on edge. If the COVID-19 virus gets out of control another lock-down could follow.
Until then, investors should be reassured that the economy is, in fact, recovering and gaining momentum every day. The risk for markets now is that new data will come in hotter than expected and fuel what is already a history-making market melt-up. Next week’s calendar of events includes several releases that could move the market. These include reads on PMI, key housing data, and the latest word on consumer income and spending.
