Good MorningThe tug of war between the bulls and bears continued on Wednesday leaving the broad market S&P 500 lower for the session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed with a smaller loss but the real story is about Tech and Transports. On the one hand, shares of tech heavyweight remain under pressure keeping the NASDAQ Composite behind its peers and down 2.0%. On the other hand, the Dow Jones Transportation Average gained nearly 2.0% at its high to close just shy of another new all-time high.
One reason for the dislocation in trading is rising interest rates. Rising interest rates make growth more costly for the tech sector and that will cut into their earnings. This situation makes the transports and other dividend-paying blue chips more attractive than ever before but the real test for the markets will be on Friday, however, with the release of core consumer inflation data.
