Good MorningA roller-coaster week for stocks ended Friday with all the major indexes finishing in the red. Is this a sign of a larger selloff or just normal end-of-the-month volatility? That will be for investors to decide as the calendar flips to August.
The new month will give investors a chance to re-evaluate their holdings and perhaps go fishing for bargains on quality stocks that are on sale. And they’ll have plenty of new data to consider. The beginning of the month brings a full slate of earnings reports along with data on retail sales, consumer confidence, and the producer price index.
The week comes to an end with the jobs report on Friday. The expectation is for a Goldilocks report that is better than July but not as good as June.
