Good MorningEquity markets look poised to rally, given a green light from the FOMC. The FOMC meets today and will issue its policy statement in the early afternoon. The odds are high that the Fed will continue to keep interest rates high; the question is how the outlook for an interest rate cut has changed. The latest inflation data does not suggest the FOMC needs to cut rates soon or even this year, and more data is due before the announcement.
The May reading of CPI is due before the FOMC releases its statement. The data is unlikely to sway the Fed's decision but will be a leading indicator for the market. The consensus is for monthly price gains to cool but for the YoY comparison to remain hot, aligning with the outlook for no cuts this year. The takeaway for investors is that the economy is growing, the labor markets are resilient, and S&P 500 earnings are growing; until this changes, the S&P 500 will be in rally mode. If its price corrects to lower levels, be ready to buy the dip when the signal forms. Featured: Buy this small stock before coming AI Tidal Wave (Chaikin Analytics)
