Good MorningThe S&P 500 inched closer to a record high on Thursday after a deluge of earnings reports affirmed the outlook for AI services growth. Reports from Microsoft to Amazon, Meta Platforms, IBM, and others reveal the positive impact of AI on their core businesses and demand for services outside of infrastructure. The critical takeaway is that AI services are expected to grow larger and faster than infrastructure, a boom worth trillions in stock market value.
Next week, the real test begins. The market has normalized to the new Fed outlook but needs to see the trends continue. Feruary's critical data and earnings reports include the labor, retail sales, inflation data, and earnings from roughly half of the S&P 500. The key reports include retailers and NVIDIA, which report at the month's end. Analysts have set a high bar for NVIDIA, expecting growth to sustain above 70%, but whisper estimates wonder if the company will outperform the consensus and raise guidance as it has for the last two years.
