Good MorningA major market story today was the Amazon Web Services outage that knocked a wide swath of internet services offline for several hours and disrupted social, gaming, streaming and financial platforms.
The interruption underscored how dependent markets and businesses are on a handful of cloud providers and briefly pressured sentiment around large tech and cloud-linked names as Amazon worked to restore services and continued to respond to lingering errors.
Commodities provided a counterpoint: precious metals extended their rally with silver hitting a fresh all-time high and gold moving higher, drawing safe-haven flows and boosting demand for related ETFs.
Energy was mixed — SLB reported a modest beat on the quarter but its shares remain under pressure amid weaker crude prices — while grain and soft-commodity futures were mostly softer in early trading.
Several quality large-caps have slipped into oversold territory and may be poised for rebounds, while a handful of overlooked smaller names could reward longer-term investors willing to tolerate higher risk. Featured: $200 billion. Washington's biggest chip bet ever? (Ad)

From Our Partners | | The U.S. Treasury still carries America's gold reserves at $42 per ounce — a price set generations ago. Buried in U.S. Code Title 31, Section 5117 is a provision allowing the Treasury to revalue those reserves to modern market prices. With gold now trading above $2,600 and record government debt putting pressure on the monetary system, attention is returning to this mechanism and what a revaluation could mean for the dollar and for private gold holders. Historically, when monetary systems shift, wealth doesn't disappear — it moves. The U.S. Gold Bureau has put together a complimentary Precious Metals IRA investor guide for Americans looking to understand how to position ahead of the next phase. | | Request Your Free Precious Metals IRA Guide from the U.S. Gold Bureau |
