Good MorningEquity markets started the week strongly, advancing the S&P 500 by more than 1.25% at the session's high. The move comes with relief that the worst-than-worst-case tariff scenario has been postponed (except for China), but the risks remain. They can shift their supply chains, but it won't be quick or cheap.
This week will also be about earnings and the economy. The earnings season is underway, with big banks reporting last week and this week and most of the news is better than expected. Retail sales data will dominate the economic news. Retail sales are forecasted to have grown by 1.2% compared to the prior month as consumers and businesses lean into front-running the impact of tariffs.
