Good MorningStocks climbed to fresh highs Thursday as the S&P 500 notched its second straight record close and the Nasdaq outpaced its peers with a 0.6% gain. The Dow reversed an early slide to add roughly 67 points. Supporting the rally was an upbeat revision to GDP data, with Commerce Department figures showing the U.S. economy expanded at a 3.3% annualized pace in the second quarter, up from an initial 3.0% estimate. Still, beneath the surface, nearly 60% of S&P 500 components traded lower, as investors parsed a mixed bag of corporate reports.
Big-box electronics retailer Best Buy delivered a better‐than‐expected quarter but sent shares down more than 6% after warning that looming tariffs could cloud full‐year results. By contrast, smaller industrial names have been riding a federal reshoring wave, propelling the Industrial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLI) to a 17% gain year to date. In the retail arena, companies with minimal reliance on imports have flashed resilience—establishing fresh all-time highs even as peers grapple with margin pressures from escalating duties.
