Good MorningU.S. stocks were mixed late Thursday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq erasing most of their earlier losses and moving around positive territory late in the session, while the Dow remained lower. Rising Treasury yields continued to pressure small-cap stocks, with the Russell 2000 ETF coming off roughly $3.3 billion in outflows last week, while inflation concerns remained in focus as businesses continued to signal elevated pricing plans.
AI infrastructure stocks faced fresh scrutiny after reports that Oracle issued a force majeure notice tied to Project Jupiter, an AI data center project. The development weighed on Oracle, Blue Owl, and Bloom Energy, while Dell also traded lower, renewing concerns about the timing of planned AI capacity. Oracle has said the project remains on schedule. In a more constructive AI-related development, Akamai announced a seven-year, $11.6 billion agreement with Anthropic that could expand to roughly $20 billion.
Consumer and transportation names were also under pressure. Carnival fell as concerns over higher fuel costs weighed on the cruise operator, while UPS traded lower as well. McDonald’s remained near a four-year low after its CEO said difficult traffic and inflation conditions were not expected to improve, while Stitch Fix fell on its fiscal 2027 forecast. Elsewhere, Alkami extended its decline after concluding a strategic review and deciding to remain an independent public company, while Kinross Gold fell after cutting its 2026 and 2027 production outlook.
